Nehru Manjusak recalled the arrival of the “Zulfikar” Unit of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, whose member Hodzic was, in Jablanica in April 1993. The witness mentioned that he soon became logistics officer with that Unit and that he then met the indictee, whom he described as “rather skinny and small built”.

“He was full of life, jolly and communicative person,” Manjusak said, adding that Hodzic did not behave in a violent manner.

When asked about detainees on Mount Igman, Manjusak said that he heard about them from this court proceeding.

Hodzic and Dzevad Salcin, another member of the “Zulfikar” Unit, are charged with the torture, beating and sexual abuse of Croat and Serb prisoners on Mount Igman in the first half of 1993.

State Prosecution witnesses, who claimed to have been beaten and abused by Hodzic, said that the indictee had a scar on his face. Witness Manjusak said that the indictee had no scar on his face. He also testified about his condition following his wounding in 1995.
“I saw him, when he came back from hospital. His wife brought him to my place. He neither recognised me, my family nor my friends,” he said, adding that he saw the indictee afterwards and that his condition was the same.

As he said, in his opinion, Hodzic looked much better today.

Second Defence witness Serif Dedovic said that he met Hodzic in a detention camp in Morinje, Montenegro, in 1992. The witness said that the conditions in the detention camp were horrible, claiming that they were tortured, beaten up and that the food was bad.

As he said, they were exchanged in August 1992. Responding to questions by Prosecutor Vladimir Simovic, the witness said that he would not avenge those who tortured him in the detention camp.

The trial is due to continue on November 20.
